COVID-19 Information

Please check here regularly for updates regarding our COVID-19 policy.

Update: 21 July 2021

Updates to health regulations now allow us to be open to as many as can safely maintain two-metre physical distancing measures.

We are so thankful for the progress being made in the fight against this terrible virus and for the ability to meet together in person again!

Update: 9 June 2021

Good news, Calvary!

Thanks to recent updates to provincial regulations, we’ll be able to meet in person this coming Sunday, 13 June at 15% capacity (30 people).

Update: 17 April 2021

In accordance with the latest changes made to public safety measures enacted in our Region of Peel to combat the upward trend of COVID-19 cases, this Sunday will be our last in-person meeting with 15% capacity until further notice. After this Sunday, we will fully return to online worship. We are also still intending to resume a mid-week Bible study, and will let you know as soon as the final details are organised.

If you would like additional information about the new Peel public health measures, please see the Region of Peel website.

You’ll be able to see Sunday servieces and mid-week Bible studies on our:

You can also give your offering online by eTransfer. You can find more details here.

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Pastor Ralph. He is continually improving, and wishes you all to know he loves you very much. Another update will be provided in the next day or two.

As always, we remain available to talk and pray with you. We cherish the privilege of worshipping virtually with you, and we look forward to seeing you again when we’re able. May we continue to trust in God’s sovereign power and mercy.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Update: 23 March 2021

We’re pleased to announce that due to recent changes to the Region of Peel COVID 19 regulations, we will reopen at 15% capacity this Sunday, 28 March, allowing for 30 people to attend our service in person. We thank God for the blessing of fellowship as we begin our celebrations of the Easter season!

If we have more people wishing to attend than our capacity allows, there will be a prepared list of members willing to give up their seats in the building in order to allow visitors the opportunity to worship with us. Wifi will be provided so that anyone offering up their seat will be able to watch the service livestream from their car in the parkling lot. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the list!

Pastor John Bodner will continue to preach for us while Pastor Ralph Willan is ill. One of our deacons, Don Taylor, will be covering Wednesday Bible study; the start date for the study has yet to be announced. There are no other worship services or activities scheduled in the building at this time. Calvary Kids will continue to meet together remotely on Zoom each Sunday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

As a reminder, if you are experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, please stay home. We will continue to stream virtual Sunday services through our Facebook page. Messages will also be available after the service through our YouTube channel and the Service Streaming page on our website. For more information on how to worship with us remotely, contact Emily or email us.

If you join us on Sunday, we want to let you know you can expect:

  • Please wear a mask.
  • Upon entering the building, one member of your family/household will need to sign in at a table that will be set up in the vestibule so that we have a record of who attended should there be a need for contact tracing. The rest of your family members/household should go directly to a pew.
  • Some pews will be marked as unavailable in order to maintain social distancing.
  • Please maintain a physical distance of 6 feet/2 metres at all times from people of other households.
  • We encourage you to continue giving your offering online. If that’s not possible, please place your offering in the plate that will be on the back table as you enter the sanctuary.
  • We will not be offering a printed bulletin.
  • We will be reading songs and hymns rather than singing them.
  • Once the service is over, please do your best to exit the building with as much distance as possible between you and other families/households. When greeting someone, always maintain proper social distancing.
  • We will be sanitizing all door handles and railings before and after the service.

If you have any questions or concerns related to our COVID-19 meeting protocols, contact Eliza, who is coordinating our efforts to comply with public health requirements. You can also reach us by email at calvarybaptistbrampton@gmail.com or send us a message through the Contact page of the website.

Update: 10 November 2020

Dear church family and friends,

As of Monday, 9 November 2020, Peel Region has entered a new period of enhanced COVID-19 safety measures to combat the upward trend of cases in our region (and our city of Brampton specifically). Due to these new regulations, we will not be meeting in person for worship services until further notice, and we will return to solely virtual services as of this coming Sunday, 15 November 2020.

If you would like additional information about the new Peel public health measures, please see the Region of Peel website.

As always, we remain available to talk and pray with you. We cherish the privilege of worshipping virtually with you, and we look forward to seeing you again when we’re able. May we continue to trust in God’s power and mercy.

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.Nahum 1:7

Update: 9 August 2020

There are two updates:

1) As previously mentioned, upon entering the building, we ask that one member of your family sign in at the attendance table in the vestibule so that we have a record of who attended should there be a need for contact tracing.

Please note that the family member signing in will be asked the following three questions each week:

• Do you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms outlined on the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 website? (Also see the poster on the table and posted by the doors for a list of symptoms.)
• Have any of your family members come in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or a person with symptoms of COVID-19, in the past 14 days?
• Have any of your family members travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days?

The remaining family members should proceed directly to a pew. Our recorder will ask all attendees to wear a mask. Should an attendee arrive without a mask, we will provide one.

2) There will be no singing until further notice.

Update: 10 July 2020

In keeping with municipal policy mandating the wearing of masks in all public buildings, as of 10 July 2020 it is now mandatory to wear a mask  inside our church building. Please put your mask on before entering the building and leave it on until after you exit the building. If you do not bring a mask with you, please see the desk in the vestibule where one will be provided for you. If you are unable to wear a face covering due to a medical condition or disability, you are not required to wear one; you will not be asked to provide details of your medical condition or disability. Masks are also not required for children under the age of 2.

Update: 13 June 2020

Dear church family,

On Monday, 8 June, Premier Doug Ford announced that religious services could resume with groups of no more than 30% of building capacity. Our church building accommodates a little more than 200 people, so 30% of our capacity is 60 people. Pastor believes that 60-person occupancy can accommodate our regular Sunday meeting, so we will resume our 11 AM service starting this Sunday. For now, there will be no Sunday School at 10 AM, Tikes and Tots, or evening service at 6:30 PM as we feel we’re not yet properly set up to resume these ministries. Calvary Kids will continue to meet online Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM until further notice.

If you are experiencing COVID-19 related symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, please stay home. We will continue to stream virtual Sunday services through our website. Messages will also be available after the service through our YouTube channel and Facebook page. If you want more information about how to worship with us remotely, contact Emily or email calvarybaptistbrampton@gmail.com.

If you do join us on Sunday, we want to let you know what changes you can expect:

• Please consider bringing a mask, as there could be times you are not able to maintain social distancing (6 feet/2 metres between families/households), especially when entering and exiting the building.
• Upon entering the building, we ask that one member of your family/household sign in at a table that will be set up in the vestibule so that we have a record of who attended should there be a need for contact tracing. The rest of your family members/household should go directly to a pew.
• Some pews will be marked as unavailable in order to maintain social distancing.
• Please ensure that you stay 6 feet/2 metres away from people from other households.
• We encourage you to continue giving your offering online. If that’s not possible, please place your offering in the plate that will be on the back table as you enter the sanctuary.
• The bulletin will only be available onscreen and for download from our website.
• Please listen during the service for any further instructions that may be given to you.
• Once the service is over, please do your best to exit the building with as much distance as possible between you and other families/households. Please go directly outside to your vehicles. If you do pause outside to greet someone, always maintain proper social distancing.
• We will be sanitizing all door handles and railings before and after the service.
• If you have any questions or concerns related to our new COVID-19 meeting protocols, contact Eliza, who is coordinating our efforts to comply with public health requirements. You can also reach us by email, or through the contact portion of the church website.

In all of this, we want to keep our focus on the bigger picture: our God is in control, and we are privileged to meet together for worship once again!

We’re looking forward to seeing you this Sunday.

18 March 2020

Dear Calvary family and community,

In keeping with the most recent public health information, Calvary will be cancelling its Sunday services and all programs (including prayer meetings, EDGE, Young Adults, ladies’ meetings, committee meetings, etc.) until further notice. We’ll be sharing our messages and worship online at 11 AM every Sunday, which you can find on our Service Streaming page.

In these stressful and unusual times, we take courage from the timeless truths of scripture, and from the support we can offer each other. If you’re in need of someone to talk to, or want to request that something be raised in prayer, please don’t hesitate to reach out by phone, through Facebook, or through the “Contact” page on our website. We’re a community, and we’re here for one another.

Please stay safe and tuned to directions from civic authorities. You can see coronavirus updates and information about the disease from the websites of the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada.

We look forward to being able to meet together again when health officials advise it’s safe to do so. In the meantime, “Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Eph. 1:2).

Need to talk, or want someone to pray for you?
